Sticky Date Chia Oats

StickydateI’ve made this oats recipe for my sister about 100 times and she still continually asks me to make it for her each Saturday morning, so that must mean it’s alright 🙂 Adding dates to your oats makes them naturally sweet and delicious!

Serves 1

Ingredients:
½ cup Oats
1 tbsp of Chia seeds
2-3 Medjool dates chopped
1 cup boiling water
½ cup Milk of choice, I use almond milk

Directions:

  1. Combine oats, chia seeds, dates and boiling water in a saucepan over medium heat
  2. Allow to cook, stirring occasionally for approximately 10 minutes
  3. Add milk of choice and stir well. Cook for an additional 5 minutes or until all liquid is absorbed
  4. Pour into serving bowl and allow to sit for 2 minutes (this will thicken it slightly)
  5. Top with favourite things, I used cherries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and banana chips for sweetness and left over granola for crunch

** I don’t generally add sweetener to my oats but you may like to add honey or sugar
